Hello people!
If you think that the last few posts have been very formal and mature,
that's because the posts are for my exams! They count it as 50% of my assessment.
so don't cancel off this blog on your bookmarks or favourites, the fun-loving
Leroy will be back next week. so stay tuned!

Let me ask you a question: have you ever been asked to
perform for an audience without having any preparation?
Well, today I can say that I have done that. Today was a
fierce battle of nerves for me. Since my Co-Curricular Activity
was Choir, you would think that I would not have any problem
with performing on stage, but if you think that, you are definitely
wrong. I was a pile of shivering jelly when asked to perform impromptu,
but I had to steel my self in order to perform well. Doing what my friend
Mitchell told me, I told myself that I actually did well, until I
sat down at my class row in the school hall.

After the tremendous ordeal, with my backside firmly rooted to
terra firma, I asked my classmates who were around me about my
performance. They said that I was not too bad, only that I was too soft
for any enjoyment of the Singapore Anthem song, and one
crucial mistake was that my tie was too long! Let me explain
about the tie business; our whole school has to wear the
red tie with yellow stripes on Monday morning till recess.
So they said that my tie was too long, as I’m short, my tie reached
my thigh and that was enough, apparently, to cause a joke that
would eventually traverse the whole school and finally die down.
So, while waiting for the joke to settle down, I’m currently in hiding,
trying to blend myself into the crowd. So, fellow Victorians, please
do not laugh at my little mistake and try to be friendly. So, with this
off my chest, I feel much lighter. Having said that, another entry has
been written and posted onto the blog. Still the old-fashioned farewell:
Goodbye!

Like I have said in my first entry on this website,
Reading books is one of my favourite pastimes.
In my house there is a huge bookshelf that contains
at least five hundred books. From classics to originals,
the family bookshelf has many books to choose
from. Out of the many books in my bookshelf,
my favourite series is the Great Illustrated Classics. These
books has many different authors, from the ever so
celebrated author Bram Stoker, to the imaginative
writer Jules Verne. Out of the many classics that
they have published, I have bought around fourteen
books, comprising of Dracula, Twenty Thousand Leagues
Under the Sea, The Time Machine, The Invisible Man,
The Secret Garden, White Fang, Pride and Prejudice,
King Arthur and The Knights of The Round Table,
A Journey To the Center of The Earth, Sherlock Holmes,
Robin Hood, The Three Mustketeers, The War of The Worlds,
Great Expectations, and Peter Pan.
These stories are the doorways to fantasy worlds,
where one can escape the rat race, and relax in their
comfort zone. My favourite stories are Great Expectations,
The Time Machine, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea,
And King Arthur. Let me talk about one of them. The Time Machine
Is about a scientist, who has discovered the method of time-traveling.
He shows his fellow scientists what he can do, by
transporting a minature version of the time machine to the
future. They do not believe him, and the scientist, or
what he calls himself the Time Traveler, travels forwards
into time to a time where human beings are dim-witted
people, who call themselves the Eloi. These creatures are very
scared of the dark, and the scientist wonders why.
He soon finds out that on every night, strange and
Fearsome creatures called the Morlocks devour the Eloi.
He struggles to get back to his time, and winds up only going back a few years.
After many adventures, he finally gets back to his
time. Still the scientists do not believe him,
causing him to go back in time again,
which in that process, disappears and never comes back.
Stories are fascinating to read, so why spend your
hard-earned money on clothing when you can
buy many books? I now leave this question to you.

In this ever so advanced world, not only family is important,
friends are one of the ingredients in making a enrich one’s
life. Everybody in their life has made many friends. Friends are
important because they lend a helping hand when you need
it the most, and if you feel a need to cry, they will lend you a
shoulder to cry on. I have many friends, some whom have the
same hobbies as me, some whose personalities identical to mine.
Friends have let go of my hands and new friends to take over their
places. In the process of changing schools, me and my primary
school friends have left me, but I have made even more friends
in my secondary school. Like the saying goes,’ Life without changes
is like tea without sugar.’ Nothing is constant except change.

Current friends of mine include Praveen, whom I met during the
Victoria School Secondary One Orientation Camp, Wei An, whom I
befriended through doing a project together, Ian, Mo Di and Tristen,
whom I befriended through playing card games together. These friends
play, laugh, cry and do everything else together. Nowadays, we do
projects together, like the Online Project Work project(OPW), and the
science Teaching for Understanding project(TFU). During recess we
will sit together and talk about daily matters. The bond between us
is something normal friends will not understand. All of us have the
same interests, like playing the same card game. But of course, we
have some different interests, like Praveen liking the singer Lady Gaga,
whereas I do like a different singer. And so, friends are important, as
I have stressed. So do not leave secondary school without having
A few good friends who can take care of you!

its a bird! Its a plane! Its .... the blog's owner!!!
DAN DAN DANNN!!!( Sorry Superman)

Wanna know more about me?
Well, here's some cool stuff about me!

I have many interests, like listening to music, playing the computer, so on and so forth.
But my number one interest is ........ reading
Comics! i have a whole shelf full of comics, and yes, they do fill my life with colour.

my favourite manga are
-Yu-Gi-Oh
-Naruto

And i'm not racist- American comics are fine with me too!
Like the famous American comic-Archie!

Yu-Gi-Oh

I love this manga because its GREAT.
First off, the cover already impresses me, as the artwork is simply beautiful.
Not one detail is excluded, and the colouring makes it look lifelike.
Unlike the saying: 'Do not judge the book by its cover.'
As you delve into the world where people settle differences over card games,
you will definitely find it fascinating. At least thats better than settling differences by WAR.
In the end, it became so popular that it transformed into a card game known as- you guessed it, Yu-Gi-Oh.
I myself have a deck to challenge people and have fun.
And believe me, the number of fans out there are countless.

Naruto

This manga = Lovely
That's the equation for Naruto.
Let me tell you what in the world is Naruto and why is it named after ramen.
Naruto is a world filled with ninja who train to raise the bar for themselves.
Of course, what would a ninja manga be without villans?
Naruto has many villans waiting in line to challenge our hero- Naruto!
He is loud, but cheerful, and most importantly, never gives up.
From a academy student struggling to pass the final exam, he becomes a top-notch ninja.
Believe it!

And to top it all up, if you find it troublesome to buy all these manga,
Buy the magazine Shonen Jump!
It has all the manga i just mentioned!
Though Yu-Gi-Oh has moved on,
a new series, Yu-Gi-Oh GX has taken its place.

So, i hoped i have influenced you to join the club!
And once again, i take a virtual bow.
Thank you!

Hey people, THIS IS F-O-O-D!

Im going to introduce you to a all japanese feast:
Menu
-Cold Soba
-Tempura
-Sashimi

TEMPURA (Four servings)

Batter: Ingredients= 1 egg
1 cup of ice water
1 cup of all-purpose flour

Beat an egg in a bowl. Add ice water in the bowl. Be VERY sure to use very cold water. Add sifted flour in the bowl and mix lightly. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

Cooking Tempura:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 340-350F degree.
Lightly dip ingredients in the batter and immediately fry them until crisp. It takes longer to fry vegetables than to fry seafood.
Drain tempura on a rack.
Serve right away with tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce) or salt. Tempura is best served hot. *Grated daikon radish is a common condiment.

Sauce: 1 cup dashi soup stock
1/4 cup mirin
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 tbsp sugar

Put mirin in a pan and heat. Add soy sauce and dashi soup stock in the pan. Bring the sauce to a boil.

SOBA (Four servings)

Noodles:Ingredients=14 oz. dried soba (buckwheat noodles)
2 cups - 2 1/2 cups mentsuyu (dipping sauce)
Wasabi paste and finely chopped green onion for toppings

Cooking Noodles
Boil water in a large pot. Add dried soba noodles in the boiling water, gently stirring noodles with chopsticks. Turn down the heat to medium. Boil soba noodles, following the package instructions. It usually takes a couple minutes to boil soba. If it's necessary, add a little bit of cold water in the pot to prevent overflowing. Drain soba and cool the noodles in cold water. Gently wash noodles with hands and drain well. Divide soba among four serving plates or zaru (draining bamboo baskets). Divide mentsuyu (noodle dipping soup) among four small cups. Serve finely chopped green onion and wasabi paste on small plates.

Sauce:Ingredients=2 cups konbu and katsuobushi dashi
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup mirin

Cooking Sauce
Put mirin in a sauce pan and heat. Add soy sauce and dashi soup stock in the pan and bring to a boil. Stop the heat. Cool the sauce.

Sashimi
Buy a block of fresh maguro (tuna) from a certified store/dealer. Shape it into a rectangle. Slice it diagonally into smaller rectangular pieces.
Buy fresh sea bream and scale the fish. Take the head and the guts out and fillet the fish. Remove the small bones. Salt over the skin and put in on cutting board. Pour boiling water over the fish and cool it in ice water immediately. Dry the fish with a paper towel and cut the fish slices into smaller pieces.
